Actually, the original photo included a lot more ocean. I cropped quite fiercely and did that on purpose. First I wanted to obey the rule of thirds and secondly I wanted to show more detail. I agree I could have left some more space in the left, but I don't agree with you that I could have placed the orca's somewhere else than in the top left. Top and bottom right are of course out of the question (because I have to give them
'moving space' and they're swimming to the right) and your suggested bottom left is also no option as I would have lost the nice reflections that way. I agree with you on the oversharpening bit; I always have a problem to find the right amount of sharpening to add.
