Anna-Lu,
Since I go there I took until now 1278 photos of them and I made a little video (65mb) of two babies. I will make more little video in the days to come, if the weather turns good.
I did not surprised them. They are used to my presence. I stay immobile or I move very slowly. I stay at at least 30 foot (10 meters) of them. With my little S2 + a tele-converter 1,5X, I have 18X optical zoom. Not a very good quality of image with this equipment but I do my best trying different settings and modes.
It is when they forget that I am there that I do the best shoots.
I use "rafale"(gust?) mode most of the time. Babies are always moving. There are a lot of little branches as you can see on this photo.
When Lucy (it is the name I gave her, I dont know why!;-)) go hunting the babies stay in the den. Some times I try to follow Lucy during her hunt (not easy). She leaves the den for more than one hour at each time unless she find a prey quickly. When she catch a prey she returns near the den and buries the prey behind it. She has many preys buried there: mallards, ring billed gulls, squirrels, marmots, birds (many Red-Winged Blackbird because there are a lot of them now), etc. She has 4 mouths to nourish + her. A very occupied mom...
If there is anything more that you precisely want to know, please ask.
Yes, I am excited by this discovery. My 2006 Spring starts well.
Take care of you and of Sheba,
