Very good questions, Janice.
These foxes live on an Island (Île Notre-Dame). In 1967 there was an Universal Expo there. This island was manmade builded with the ground removed to build the metro of Montréal (I hope it is clear up to now).
Since many years, some times after the Universal Expo, there is a track motor race which was created there (Gilles Villeneuve circuit). There are a lot of marmots there, too much. It was very dangerous for pilots of the cars of races. So, I dont know who, three years ago, thought in his wisdom that it would be perhaps wise to establish foxes on the island to decrease the quantity of marmots. That did not really function. But, until now and for my greater pleasure, foxes live in the wild there.
Later I will post a view as a ws of the track race near of the den. An employee with the maintenance of the island (which adores these foxes) explained me many things.
Each year there is The Grand Prix du Canada which take place there.
This year, it will be held the 23 and 24 of June. Babies will have near 4 mounts. At four months, they become autonomous and leave their mother. You know, I wish only the best for them.
There are two or three other adult foxes on this island, from which at least a male, I am sure!!!
There is also the Casino of Montréal on this island.
With these foxes, it is me who wan the jackpot! Very few people knows about them... until now! ;-)
I hope to have answered your questions. Now I can go to sleep...zzzzz
Tourlou!
