Dizzy is a very good word. I feel that way too when I look at this shot :-)
I liked the BG of this shot, but the butterfly was in a strange pose and I couldn't find a good way to frame it. When I was playing with the picture in postprocessing I rotated it by accident and I thought it looks better than the "normal" version. I posted the rotated shot to WS so you can compare by yourself which one is better.
As for the contrast. It may be ligth. It was quite strong and low. There are also shadows on the wings. Maybe that gives the impression. I don't really know.
