Hi Ram,
I did not used flash at all. By the shadow of the head you can see that sun light reflects to me at about 30º. This is a great angle for matt surfaces as gecko one. In fact the head casts a very dark shadow not illuminated. If I would use flast the gecko would run away.
I think -though this an hypothesis- that gecko could not see me by the angle of the sun, what lets me approach more than usual.
