Janice, I know NOTHING about living in that cold weather. In NZ the coldest we get here (north area of NZ) is maybe +7C and not for long. NEVER any snow, but it does snow further south but I don't think it reaches anything below -5C - not too sure about that. Our S and SW winds are very cold too.
We will sometimes go for a holiday over winter to a Pacific island like Fiji or Rarotonga (Cook Islands), or even to Queensland in the east coast of Australia - it is hot up there.
But our Summers here the hottest we get is +29C, but usually it will be +22 - +26C, and living by the sea we will get a cool breeze which is very welcome.
I'll let you know next time we're off to Fiji, but sorry, it won't be for another few years!!
