I'm not quite sure anymore what the distance was. But reconstructing the situation I think it must have been about 70 cm. It is always like that. You start of from a great distance ending up with your lens nearly pushed on the dragonfly.
HAve a good chrismas week, Horia, and lot's of fun in the mountains. With two little kids these are the difficult years but as soon as possible I'm going to do that again for newyearseve.
