Pieter, to begin with the flamingos were 5! but I had to crop one out. The OOF issue that you mention has to do with the distance and the size of the subject -which is small- let alone the fact that they are flying and the 1/400 I chose wasn't enough. Now, about the "wish to see them closer" I totally sympathize with you as it is my wish too!, but what you ask for costs some €4000 -the difference between the 400mm I used with the 600mm I needed. ;-)))
