Hi Anna Lu
I have explained beanbags somewhere, sometime, before her on TN.
The greatest bane of most photographers is camera movement, ot more specifically, lens movement. The longer the lens, the more unyielding it becomes. So, You can buy an Image Stabilising lens, if you shoot Canon, use a tripod or beanbags.
A bean baf is nothing but a home made "cushion" pillow filled with dried beans, rices, sunflowerseed etc. The cut-off legs of an old pair of jeans does fine. You sew the one side clos, fill the "pillow" with beans, then sow close the top. I use 2 off, beanbags, a ±250 X 180 X 60 and a 220 X 100 X 79 or so. I use the large bag as base, the small bag on top, then wedge the lens an camera snugly into this "cushion" seat. Most hides have a window ledge or cill, so you plonk the beanbag across the cill, hit it into submision, place the smaller bag an top, nestle the lens, and bingo, you can shoot a 600 mm lens with no movement, if you are careful. Hope this helps. Feel free to ask, I wil answer, anytime, even if I can not.
Have a nice day
