Hi there Mike,
For me so far best large amount of cash i have spent on my photography it is a very vesitle lens the images it produces seem very crisp wether its at distance or close up. it will focus down to 6ft which is close for this size of lens I have used it to capture insects and they have come out as well as those taken with a proper macro. the VR means it can be hand held and inspite of being very large piece of glass it balances well.
It cost me the better part of £3800-00 less than list price but still a lot of cash, but i feel it was worth it and I use it inpreferance to other lens when not shooting true macro shots.
The only down side I have found is that it doesnt seem to like working with my Nikon 1.7 lele converter I have yet to get an image I am happy with.
If you can find one to try grab the chance I think you will like it, you then just have to find the funds for a new one as there do not seem to be ,any 2nd hand ones, I was lucky I was left some money and enough was spare to allow me to buy it.
thanks for taking the time to look yours Robert |
