Well, the aperture was set by the camera, and it all boils down to the mistake made in shooting at -1/3 (which was a setting I'd forgotten to change back after last use - shame on me).
The light around here usually gives a fair DOF with 1/500 or 1/640, so that's what I mostly use. But with the -1/3 the camera chose the higher aperture which, incidentally, gave me a string of underexposed shots. The only one worth trying to salvage was this one..
