Geckos are smallish lizards in the family Gekkonidae found in warm climates throughout the world. They are unique among lizards in their vocalizations, making chirping sounds in social interactions with other geckos. There are 1,196 different species. They have no eyelids, but transparent membranes which they lick clean & have specialised toe pads.

Habitats include the eastern slopes of the Lebombo Mountains, broad stretches of acacia savannah, swamps & a variety of woodlands & riverine forest.
