The family Threskiornithidae belongs to the order Ciconiiformes, including long-legged wading birds, e.g. the storks, the herons, and the bitterns. It consists of 36 species of large terrestrial and wading birds and it is divided ,into two subfamilies: Threskionithinae (Ibises) Plateinae (Spoonbills) Later was formerly known as Plataleidae. They are beautiful birds. |
