|[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note|
|This photo is from the wonderful orchid fields alongside the small road from Mattinata to Monte Saint Angelo. Normally I take "macro" photos with my 300/f4 Canon birdphoto lens, but now I had decided to get a more specialised lens for the orchids we were hoping to see on the spring travel this year.|
In 1981 my wife gave me a new Swedish book about orchids in Europe by Bo Mossberg and Sven Nilsson. A big part of the beautiful paintings were made in the mountain area of Monte Gargano in Italy in april/may. Since then it has been a dream to be able to go to that place in springtime. This year that dream came true.
Among orchid people there seems to be an urge for making species out of subspecies. I will post some photos from this years journey but i will try to avoid that getting in to all that.
I think this is an Ophrys Lutea, please correct me if I am wrong...
