Twelve-Spotted Skimmer (34)
Lesley Gold Star Critiquer/Silver Workshop Editor/Gold Note Writer [C: 297 W: 13 N: 913] (2988)
This Twelve -Spotted Skimmer was sunning himself on the tip of an dried weed stem in an open meadow area. There was a reservoir nearby...this envirnoment is the typical place ot find this flamboyant fellow. This species was called the Ten-Spotted for many years because the white spots were counted, but now it has become the Twelve-Spotted by virtue of it's brown spots on the wings. Territorial disputes are settled by which male can fly vertical loops around the other.

- out some of the top to balance the picture - IMO and adding a little USM 200, 0.3, 1 to improve the details.

Hope you like it

Lesley, Looking at your camera and lens I got the feeling that there is more possible with this shot. I took it and applied UnSharp Mask and faded it. The result is a sharper impression.
Let me know what you think.
