Good Morning

Well I have gotten a bit braver and have moved my hide deeper into the woods on my land. I found a well traveled game trail and went about cleaning it up and laying out some goodies. Found an area with some fallen trees and partially cleared paths. So I got the clippers, the leaf blower and the weed whip and went to work. After cleaning up enough so the game still had good concealment and I had a decent staging area I went about the task of laying out seeds, peanuts, corn and store bought eggs. Since I did not know what traveled this path though I believe it is deer, I decided to put out a little of everything in hopes of not coming back empty handed. Well I did too; the birds followed me out deep into the woods and gave me ample shooting opportunity while I waited for some wildlife to show. I waited for about 4 hours and was rewarded with a matting pair of Raccoons. I have taken quite a few shots too, both of them fighting, eating eggs and playing around. By the looks of the female underside she is also nursing, hope to get some shots of the kids soon. The biggest problem I have found though shooting in the woods is the dappled light, shadows and literally places where it looks like a flood light is shinning down from the openings in the trees. I had to go manual and use fill flash to compensate for the varying degrees of light. Also it is a bit unnerving sitting in the woods for several hours by yourself waiting to see what shows up. Thankfully the only thing I really have to worry about in Delaware is poisonous snakes as there is no cougars or bears in this state! ;) See you out on the site, hope to have some real nice shots to show in the next couple of posts.

Greg

Greg, I know it is not much different and probably a matter of personal taste. I just made an effort to remove what seemed to be a slight yellowish cast. Either way, this is one of my favorite TN photos.
