Here is another picture of this interesting Hoverfly.

I continued with my research regarding the ID of this insect and felt that perhaps it may not be exactly sepulchralis. There is stronger likelihood that it could be a female Eristalinus aeneus.
However, the main feature that this insect shares between the two is its mottled or spotted eyes. The vertical black and white stripes on the thorax are another feature that the females of the two species share.
In the case of the specimen I have photographed, there is yet another difference that is very marked: the horizontal black and white stripes on its abdomen. All the sample pictures of these two species I saw on the net did not have these stripes. So this makes my specimen a bit unique.

Many people did not find the focus on the eyes up to the mark in my previous post of this insect. This time I have made sure that we get the eyes in sharp focus.
