On my recent trip to Ireland we had some amazing rough seas crashing in from the Atlantic on Ireland's most westerly point. The scale is hard to appreciate from this photo but if you look closely on the right hand side just below the spray you might be able to make out a Herring /Black Backed Gull. If you know the size of these birds it'll give you some idea of how big these waves were. If you don't know how big this type of gull is then let me tell you the waves were huge! I've posted an enlargement of the gull as a workshop.
