Panthera Leo

In western stories, lions are thought to be fierce and dangerous; however, in Chinese mythology lions are used to help chase away evil spirits and bring good luck. Chinese use the lions to celebrate happy occasions and new beginnings, such as weddings, Chinese New Yearâs, special occasions, and the opening of new stores and businesses.

A previous photo of mine "Unfamiliar Killer" featured a note on a FIV. (The disease killing African Lions) This photo was taken at the reserve were they are breeding the lions to replenish those dying from FIV. This is a cub from that breeding program.

Reserves like this one is a light on the dark path to combating the disease.

Used neat noise filter on the photo, Thanx Jaap

Selective sharpening

Goal: to bring back the details of the cubs fur, that had goen lost in post processing.

To do this i first added an unsharp mask to the whole picture. I chose the values Amount = 400% (that is a lot, you may want to use less), Radious = 0,5 Threshold = 0. However, i didn't want the whole picture to be sharpened, only the fur so i opened the "History window". I there clicked on the "open" state and the picture returned to the way it was before applying USM. I marked the USM state by the side, and then used the History brush to paint back the USM on the fur only.

Hope it is usefull.
