In lake Kerkini's northern shore. The lake was formed in 1932, when a dam was built on Strymon river. It is the wildlife-richest habitat in Greece and one of the ten water-reserves protected by Ramsar Treaty.
The mountain reflected in the lake is Beles (Kerkini) on Greek-Bulgarian border and the village seen is Akritohori.
