Mind of a Killer (54) PDP
(11759) | This is our largest jumping spider, don't fret though it only grows to maximum of 10 mm in body length, this spider belongs to the genus Marpissa and the species is likely to be M. muscosa. I think they are handsome spiders and the eyes are great, although they do have rather a scary feel. I have pictured one of these last year whilst it was eating a young nursery web spider. There are three or four British species and none of them are common and most are found in the south. This M. muscosa likes to hunt on trees covered with lichen, dead wood and fence posts.
Eggs sacs are placed in a silken cell, under bark and stones or on vegetation and these eggs are guarded by the mother, who'd argue with her?
I hope you like this, I love this spider. |
