In January last year, I went out with a group of friends to a picnic spot 200KM out of Riyadh. We travelled on the expressway to Mecca for about 160 KM and then diverted to the picnic spot into the interior of the desert.
This landscape was taken on our way onward on the main expressway. It was a sunny morning and the barren hillocks looked magnificent against the deep blue sky. We stopped the car at a good vantage point and took some pictures. This is one of them.
Hope you find it of some interest.
The image had to be cropped heavily at the bottom to eliminate most of road in the foreground. I have also posted LP version of it; please do have a look at it.

I have posted the full version for the benefit of Dean who thought cropping the foreground was not a good idea. Actually I did not wish to include the car in the foreground in this picture, keeping in mind the rules of TN.
