Living amidst nature, one can witness interesting natural phenomena easily. While studying in my room at the second floor of our summer house in the woodland, piercing shrieks from the sparrows (house sparrow) in the balcony caught my attention. Though I am used to hearing sparrow chirps, I knew this time something different was going on. When I glanced standing at the door, saw that their noisy reaction was at the sight of their friend, fallen prey to a snake. Actually the scene was a bit creepy for me too. I think the snake came up to the balcony through the ivy. The sparrows couldn’t see me because the door was closed. Of course the first thing I thought of was to take a shot. Since opening of the door would obviously scare them, I took one shot behind the door glass. Then I opened it very very slowly, and took this shot when the snake had the bird in its mouth. Soon, the snake saw me and suddenly released the bird (I don’t know why, maybe because it was necessary to have an empty mouth to defend itself).(Workshop picture) Since I couldn’t follow the unlucky bird in that bustle, don’t know what became of it. I took one more photo of the snake –then without the sparow. Then I watched the snake go away through the ivy the same way–I guess- it came up.

Wanted to share this exciting story as well as the photo.
Best regards…
