Suffering Silently (10)

"Suffering Silently" is today's upload. It is not normal to ever see a grebe outside it's watery environment but that is just where I located this small Red necked Grebe. It appeared to be gagging on something while it was on shore and appeared to be suffering silently and all the while it was pulling up plant matter, maybe in a bid to move along a throat blockage but I'm not sure.My fear is that it may of swallowed a piece of plastic or old fishing lure crossed my mind but then it may of taken on a fish a little to large for it to swallow. It's mate was nearby in the water watching the two of us with guarded interest. When I found this bird was not moving away form me I slowly walked right up to it to see what the matter could be,I held out my hand and the little bird pecked at me,a hopeful sign but futile if a dog or fox were to happen by instead of me.This is not the way I want to get close to any wildlife, when they are distressed and at a disadvantage and even though the bird was not moving back into the water with any luck it will be alright given enough time.I have another view of this bird and it's mate in the water.Be kind to our wildlife friends and give them a safe and clean world to live in and do not pollute the water and land with garbage.I have taken a photo that illustrates all to well what the thoughtlessness of people throwing garbage into a marsh can do to wildlife and it is not pretty even though the innocent victim was but that is a story for another time.PP was done with Paint.Net.

At the time of this shot the sun was becoming obscured more and more by clouds so the detail lacks somewhat. This bird watched me and it's mate a short distance from shore,if I could talk to them ,I would say I'm here to help but unfortunately that isn't possible.Having been so near to the bird on shore I now know just how small they are, only 35cm long if even that. All the photos were cropped and resized using Paint.Net.

In this view the lobed feet can partially be seen.I hope this small bird makes it.
