Hi Folks , todays upload is of a Western tailed blue , it gains this name from the small hair like tails on the ends of its wings , although very similar to a feature of the Hairstreaks , behavioral studies indicate that this is a True Blue butterfly.

the under side of the wing is very pale , marked with black spots , at the rear of the wing there is a very distinctive marking of orange silver and black spots (see workshop).

this butterfly is fairly common to see from mid May to August , typically see at forest edges or in grassy clearings.
