Swallow (Barn Swallow) youngsters being fed by their parent at RSPB Elmley Marshes nature reserve. I am posting another picture of them waiting to the WORKSHOP.

From Birdguides:

In: Barn Swallow Ca: Oreneta vulgar Da: Landsvale De: Rauchschwalbe Es: Golondrina común Fi: haarapääsky Fr: Hirondelle rustique It: Rondine Nl: Boerenzwaluw No: Låvesvale Pt: Andorinha-das-chaminés Sv: Ladusvala US: Barn Swallow Ru: Деревенская ласточка

Identification
Swallows are slimmer and more elegant than the martins, a feature exaggerated by the long tail streamers of the adults. The dark throat and, of course, the all-dark rump separate them easily from House Martins and Red-rumped Swallows.

Habitat
Breeds mostly in farm buildings. Feeds in the air usually over open country.

Behaviour
Ringing studies have shown that a pair of Swallows will return every year to nest in exactly the same barn, unless one of them dies 'en route'.

Migration
An few individuals are seen in Britain in winter but most migrate to Africa, south of the equator. The British breeding population winters mostly in South Africa and Botswana, the German birds wintering further north, from Guinea to Zaire.
