This are Armillarias, are one of the most common species in TN, so plenty information is availble about them.
I will talk inestead about the technique I used to get some light under this umbrelas. One of the main problems of fungi photography is the light. Mushrooms use to grow in moody places, and the underneath is always very dark and difficult to photograph in its own enviroment.
If you use flash, you get a lot of details, but natural atmosphere is lost, and colours change very much, even with diffuser it is difficult to handle.
In this case I used another technique. It consists in making 2 identical shots, one natural, and another with flash. Then both shots are merged, the natural one with 100% opacity and the "flashed" one with opacity to taste :)
In this case, I used a 33% opacity, so what you are actually looking at are 1.3 captures :D
I posted as workshops the original shots without any postprocess except crop, resize and frame:

You can try to merge them yourself to see how it works.
The merged shot is also free of postprocess except for crop, resize , frame and USM 0.3 - 125%. Maybe it could be improved by adjusting shadows, levels and colours, but I liked to leave it this way to appreciate the technique better.
