Serinus serinus - Kucuk Iskete / Serin (70) rousettus
(8960) | I already mentioned on yesterday's post of mine that I will upload some new shots, which I captured them in Melendiz Mountains when we searched some dragonflies (Odonata). This is the first of them and belongs to very beautiful passerine bird species: Serinus serinus (Linnaeus, 1758) Kanarya, Küçük İskete [TR], Serin, European Serin [EN].
The species is from the family FRINGILLIDAE and one of two species of the genus Serinus Koch, 1816 in Turkiye. Second species is S. pusillus (Pallas, 1811)
Kara İskete (Red-Fronted Serin) (my previous post on the link). Somebody listed three species with S. citrinella (Pallas, 1764) (sometimes as Carduelis citrinella)- Alp İsketesi (Citril Finch)] from Turkiye.
S. serinus is a small bird with 11.5 cm in size. I already posted a shot the species from Denizli (see the link for the previous post).
New post was taken near Gebere Resorvoir or Damlake in last week. When I drove soil road, I saw it on old wire. It tried to supply balance against strong wind.
The species is winters in Hatay Province, the most south corner of the country. It is resident in other regions, except for Eastern and Southeastern Turkiye. It is relatively rare in the Central Anatolia and Eastern Karadeniz [Black Sea].
The photo was taken by camera on hand. I submit it directly except for RAW to JPEG and some crop. Another shot of the same bird is presented as a WORKSHOP.
I hope you will like it. best wishes.
