hello dear TN friends, i have to tell that this 2 images
(there is another one on the workshop) are not my best ones,
but because i love this image the rabbit running
i decide to share it with you and to submit it to your critiques

i was taking a walk with Ranger the young one
of my pointing dogs, we where at the Nature Park near
my home, the dogs are allowed but have to be in leash,
when i saw that Rabbit posing on the grass, i gived
the sit command to my young dog and i did an approache
to the rabbit, he let me aproach few meters of him

i did first shot (the focus is missed), the photo is on
the Workshop, then the Rabbit runs i did this shot,
when the Rabbit runs my dog too follwed him but
i stopped him with the WHOA command wish means STOP

this image was shot with my little Nikon compact,
you'll see that the sutter speed is only 1/30s,
it is because with this camera i can not choose
the shutter speed or the aperture

from the New Hampishe Public Television website
here is some notes on the Eastern Cottontail :

« Habitat

The eastern cottontail prefers habitats that are between
woody areas and open land. It can be found in bushy areas,
fields, woodlands, swamps and thickets.

Behavior

The eastern cottontails is solitary and very territorial.
It is mostly nocturnal, but it sometimes will come out
in the early morning and at dusk and sometimes during
the day on dark days. The eastern cottontail can leap distances
of between 10 and 15 feet. It will sometimes stand on its hind
feet to watch for predators like coyotes, foxes, weasels, eagles
and hawks. When a predator is chasing it, the eastern cottontail
will often leap from side to side to break its scent trail.
It can run at speeds of up to 15 miles an hour. »
