"DAISEY GRAZERS".

"BLACK BETHYLID WASP". And, many many more.....

Wasps come in different sizes, shapes, forms and colours.

I had originally "assumed" that the species you are looking at was a sort of "FLYING ANT". I noticed it always "hiding" in the shadows of the petals of the Daisey flower; then it grabbed an Aphid and chewed on it. My DSC H9 was in the house. Quickly, I ran into my home, back, camera in hand, to my subject. I did manage to click it three times. It had, by then, finished its meal. Then it flew away never to return during my 2 hour vigil within that area.

Am NOT going to crop to ENLARGE the subject. WHY??? So you may "SEE" how it hunts its prey. IT HIDES FROM THE APHIDS. Am inculding all the three images in this series.

Here is a most INTERESTING life cycle of the "BLACK BETHYLID WASP". PLEASE, PLEASE keep this page handy. It contains DETAILED information, not only on wasps, but on SPIDERS, their PREDATORS and BENEFICIALS .... provided you click on "Menu and Table of Contents" on its top left side.

All members are VERY welcome to 'work shop' this Image.

To view an ENLARGED image of the wasp in hiding for Aphids please click on the right bottom corner of the import. All the images below can be enlarged in the similar manner.

Here are the rest of the "DAISEY GRAZERS".

A foraging FLOWER WASP. A Flower wasp ENLARGED. A Bethylid Wasp in AMBUSH MODE. A Bethylid wasp "eyeing" the grazing tiny, tiny inch worm. This inch worm is not more than 1/8th. of an inch. Again, an inch worm consuming Daisey Stamens. Another grazing inch worm.
This stranger "looks" like a LEAF HOPPER INSECT; but it's not. It is a SPITTLE BUG. Once more DITTO. It secretes this protective FOAM. to protect its future in this dog eat dog world.
Now, a TINY ANT EATING AN INCH WORM. Here it is MAGNIFIED.
The hiding Aphids. This time ENLARGED.
LAST OF ALL A GRAZING BUMBLE BEE.

Please note its "HIDING" mode to capture its prey. A VERY VERY CLEVER CREATURE, indeed.!!!
