One of the most common butterflies in my region.
Known as Clouded yellow in English. In Portuguese is known as “Maravilha”
It belongs to the Pieridae Coliadinae Coliadini family.
Their caterpillars feed on several plants such as: Trifolium, Medicago, Onobrychis, Lotus, Coronilla, Melilotus, Hippocrepis, Astragalus and other Fabaceae
They laid the eggs singly on the upperside of leaves of the foodplant. They are pale yellow when first laid, turning orange prior to hatching. The egg hatches in 6 to 10 days.
