Dappled Light is the title I give this offering for today. Sure they are common the world over but sometimes I turn my camera's lens towards tree squirrels anyway. The soft dappled light appealed to me in a way that I can't really describe except it is somewhat like some of the 19th century's impressionistic paintings, with the light play.Once again I make mention of paintings and sometimes a camera does just that, it creates an image that looks like a painting. An impression of reality with just enough detail to make it plain just what the subject is.I appreciate nature's artistry and try to show it as she has presented it to me as a way to honor her.Now you might think the crop could of followed more closely the third's rule but I wanted the dark to be balanced with the light in a more less diagonal line. I still have a very long way to go, to capture the essence of what nature is about as it is such a sublime thing that is sometimes only felt and my photos can bearly get out what I feel.Still I continue on ,enjoying the attempts I make to show beyond what the eye sees.
I hope you enjoy this image and in your way understand just what it is I'm trying to say with my note about the sense of that which is not seen directly-the essence of life here on good old planet earth, the artfulness of it and the timeless quality it has, from time immemorial to the here and now.Life is all around and it shines!

I like this image a lot and perhaps Bob wanted the whole image to be a bit soft. I felt that I'd like one part a little sharper... perhaps the whole squirrel or just the squirrel's head and eye. I sharpened the whole squirrel and toned down the exposure just a little in the background. It could be just my monitor that made it appear so bright.
