This is my second post of the Owl butterfly which better shows its redeeming feature. The patterns on the wings of this Owl butterfly closely resemble the eyes and face of an owl, scaring off any potential predators.

When disturbed, the butterfly exposes its "owl eyes" to the would be predator which are often small insect eating animals that are themselves preyed upon by owls and have a healthy respect for anything that resembles an owl.
