Small weevils on Alcea rosea (40) anel
(15352) | RHOPALAPION LONGIROSTRE ON ALCEA ROSEA
In our Botanical Garden there is a corner for garden-flowers where at the moment blossom the quite high Alcea rosea (Hollyhock). I was looking at the buds of these flowers when suddenly I realized that there were hundreds of very tiny creatures creeping around on these flowers. Without my lens I just saw some grey spots moving around. Through the lens I had the great pleasure to see this funny very tiny weevil (2,4-3,4mm), mostly moving in a tandem-formation.
At home it took me a long time to find out abouth them.
Finally I got the key with the species Rhopalapion longirostre, species which I would like to present in a next picture. |

| I used cuvers, brightness/contrast, shadow/highlights to get bit of contrast and texture the bud needed. |
