Scott ask and recieve; this is an open window (door) shot of my sunset this evening. The workshop (not that great a pic...:-) shows the view out my dinning room windows this evening. Being from South Louisiana, I have to say I do enjoy it...;-) I learned to love the mountains the two years I spent in Korea. These Ozarks are not that majestic, but they'll do for me. We migrated up here in 1988. I bought this property in 1990. It is the only thing I ever bought on payments where I wrote the check every month with a smile. This area was #11 in the nation for retirement choices when we got here in 88. I don't know were it lies now. A whole lot of retirees from Chicago, then some from California, then a few from Louisiana then all parts else where. This is also a popular vacation spot. I consider what I have up here a working retirement. This place starves a lot of people out who are not retired since it is wage reduced. It is not that easy to make a living around here, but fortunately I manage to get by. We lived in a house trailer for a lot of years right on this site, till I finally got the round-tu-it I needed to build our house. We contracted out the poured basement and the gasline plumbing and did everything else ourselves.
Matney Mountain is 3 miles distant in our southern view. The white river flows right infront of it. We get to see fog on the river in the morning. I'm due for my annual mountain bike ride to the top of Matney soon now that the leaves are off of the trees. Beyond Matney are the Leatherwoods.
The tree to the right of Matney is a scraggily old oak on the edge of my tree line that I personally love. It won't be here forever, so I'm enjoying it while it is. You might be surprised how many people have told me they'd be glad to cut it out of my view. One man's treasure another man's trash. (Or firewood.)
Well, I was busy today, and I didn't get any bird shots so, I thought I'd share this with you. Hope you didn't mind my rambling too much...;-)
Thanks for lookin...
Regards,
Dave

Scott,
You mentioned dinning room view. Here it is. My dinning room, kitchen, and living room are all one big room though.
