I stopped alongside a creek to hike and came across this toad, I believe, and he or she just sat on his warm throne and watched my every movement without fleeing. I slowly approached his spot on Earth and was very careful not to cast a shadow across it, and as I studied its patterns I noticed the beautiful pattern and color of its eye.
