Wildflowers & Derbyshire Gritstone (14) danbachmann
(459) | I believe these to be Derbyshire Gritstone, a variety of sheep found in the Peak District of Derbyshire and Pennine Districts of Lancashire and Yorkshire.
I have been told that to be a "black sheep" only the face must be black, so in this case you have both a white sheep and a black sheep.
It is hard to say if they are wild or domesticated or farm animals for the classification purposes of this site. Some are kept inside large walled or fenced fields, while others roam free for all the year and are collected before winter, by using a sheep dog. The farmers identify them by the spray painted mark on them and/or a tag on the ear.
These two were out of any boundry and on the edge of a cliff. Many of the sheep I have seen in England though are within large fields with stone walls, while in Scotland I've only seen free roaming sheep. Getting close as I have here is highly discouraged during the lambing season in Spring. |
