Tiger Swallowtail (9)
Martrim Silver Note Writer [C: 3 W: 0 N: 12] (69)
Taken in afternoon sun. I stopped the car and jumped out to get this shot, along with a few others. I think this is a Tiger Swallowtail? I'm learning as much about insects as I am about cameras on this website! 1/400, F5.6, 200mm lens. I find that butterflies most often have their wings up when collecting pollen from flowers. I'm not always disciplined enough to wait until just before takeoff, as they spread their wings. But I'm still practicing. I wonder particularly about the composition in this shot. Could I have framed it better? This is the original framing, and I don't think I like the yellow background upper right from the butterfly.

I cropped to give full focus to the butterfly as that is in my view the point of focus.
