Baby Mallard

Mallard Duck Anas platyrhynchos

Biometrics:Cut: 51 to 62 cm. Scale: 81 to 98 cm. Weight: 850 to 1400 G.
Identification: Most widespread of wild ducks. Male: Brown gray with the head dark green, yellowish nozzle, white collar, chest brown purplished, remains black and white body. Female: Brown mouchetée of yellow, brown nozzle bordered d'orange.
Longevity (maximum): 29 years.
Song: Mallard cancane, canquete, nasille. Cancan male is noisy, with one or two false note initial, is often followed weaker corner-corner-corner.
Habitat: It attends many mediums: ponds, lakes, marshes timbered or not, urban coasts,... It is satisfied with tiny parts of water (ponds, ditches...).
Behaviors: The mallard is far from savage, some reproduce with domestic ducks. The male is far to be faithful and changes partner every year. Like the majority of ducks of surface, it nourishes plants, often while rocking towards. It s'envole without running on water. The males cover a plumage similar to that of the females, known as d'éclipse, at the time of the moult of end of summer where the rémiges all fall at the same time. They take again their initial aspect into 3 to 4 weeks.
Flight: Ahead tended head and neck, beats not very full and fast.
Nesting: Nest: Cut d'herbe furnished with sleeping bag, on the ground or sometimes in the cavity d'un willow tadpole. Clearly bridge greenish March from 7 to 16 eggs; approximately 26 days incubation by the female alone. The youngs fly to 7 weeks old.
Mode: Watery seeds, roots and plants but also towards, frogs and insects.
