I took this picture in a park in the center of Monterrey, Mexico.

Not a great nature look alike picture I agree but I like the effect created by the shadows of these flying swallowtails butterflies.

brightening in photoshop

1) increased saturation
2) brightened with curves tool
3) played a bit with color balance. the image ssemed to be have a bit of a yellow green tint.
4) used levels to make the dark regions darker while maintaining the same midtones and highlights.
