Green Carpet Pond on Pinkney Island (2) Swissguy
(51) | On the approach route to Hilton Head Island there is a State Park donated by the Pinkney family - Pinkney Island. It is lush collection of flora in all shapes and sizes. There are aligators to be seen here as well as butterflies that defy description. But what caught my eye the most was this bright green algae that had formed a natural carpet on this inlet pond.
Not sure whether it was sweetwater or brakish (didn't try to find out...) but I sure loved this color.
The pipe cleaners in the foreground (OK, go on someone, tell me their correct name!) give it some interest. I also like to play with the various textures of dark sharp green reeds contrasted nicely against what has to be called witching green - quite apt for this season of Hallowe'en...
No tripod or filters. No flash. Downsized and cropped a little to TNa specs. No pp work. One pond. |
