Long-tailed Macaques Monkey (30)

Long-tailed Macaques Monkey
Macaca fascicularis
It is also called the Cynomolgus Monkey or Crab-eating Macaque.

#1 of my Macaques Series.

Taken at near the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, the HSBC Tree-Top Walk. These wild monkey roam freely on the roads and swinging from tree to tree.

Over the years of living with humans, these monkeys have learnt to adapt to the walking in and out of humans. And many 'itchy fingers' would feed them junk food that they bring along on their walks, many of which are known to be harmful for these little ones. The natural habitat, the tropical rainforest, provides the source of food (berries, fruits, wild water crabs, etc) for these monkeys. But because they have tasted the junk that humans give them, they have grown complacent and greedy.

One of them actually sneaked up on a lady carrying a plastic bag and snatched it from her. It is becoming a problem here that the news has to say "Monkeys are becoming more aggressive". Who's to blame?!

Thus, they are known live MOST SUCCESSFULLY in disturbed habitats and on the periphery of forests.

Oh i tried sharpening the image again after neat image but i didn't like the sharpness it created. Like all its hairs were sticking out and pricky. So i chose to leave it as it is. Soft. Besides, in life, their hair looked real soft too. :)

Hi Stephanie,

I adjusted the levels to gain some light and contrast. Then I sharpened using smart sharpen with the settings 100,1. Please let me know what you think.

Kind regards
Gerhard
