 Apis Mellifera (52) Alex99
(18621) | This picture is one more example of application of macro ring flash and small values of an aperture with the purpose of achievement of the large depth of field at macro shooting (the level of magnification is approximately 1:2. Only an insignificant cropping was applied to an original picture). See my first experience of usage of this flash Last Nectar.
This picture has allowed me to imprint last bright paints of autumn 2006 (in our district) and tireless work of greater friends to people – the melliferous bees living in our edges. It is honeybee (Apis mellifera).
Apis mellifera
The Western honey bee or European honey bee (Apis mellifera) is a species of honey bee comprised of several subspecies or races. "Mellifera" is from the Latin, and means honey-carrying - hence "Apis mellifera" is the honey-carrying bee. The name was coined in 1758 by Carolus Linnaeus, though in a subsequent 1761 publication, he referred to it as mellifica; the older name has precedence, but some people still utilize the incorrect subsequent spelling. As of October 28, 2006, the genome of Apis mellifera has been fully sequenced and analysed.
