This lasts for only a few months and then the waiting for rain begins again - rain that may come next year, or maybe the year after, or maybe the one after. Small and pretty as they are springbok are quite tough animals and can live without surface water as they get enough moisture from the dew on the leaves. However, if the drought is too long, they suffer like all the other animals. This one looks the part in the festive season. |
