Kalahari Wonderland (11)

This young springbok (antidorcas marsupialis) adds to the beauty of the normally arid kalahari region of Botswana after the rains have turned the normally dry plains into a lush green. This lasts for only a few months and then the waiting for rain begins again - rain that may come next year, or maybe the year after, or maybe the one after. Small and pretty as they are springbok are quite tough animals and can live without surface water as they get enough moisture from the dew on the leaves. However, if the drought is too long, they suffer like all the other animals. This one looks the part in the festive season.

I play with the framing a little bit and with the contrast.
