Across the Valley 1 (6) ldhendrix (46) | | My concluding series on my climb of Volcan Pacaya begins with the first of three photos of neighboring Volcan Agua taken from the slopes of Volcan Pacaya. The two neighbors are part of the Central American Arc of volcanoes along the subduction zone of the Cocos and Carribean Plates. Guatemala alone has over 30 such volcanoes, although most, including Volcan Agua, have not erupted in historic times. Obviously, from the previous photos in the series and the recent lava flow in the foreground, Volcan Pacaya definitely fits in the active category. |

| While I lost some of the green foilage and dark volcanic rock in the foreground, the cone penetrating through the clouds and their unique formations, as well as the blue sky, are brought out. This is the first workshop posting I've ever done, so I'm afraid I didn't pay attention very closely to the technical aspects of what I did while I did it. Using Photoshop, though, I used Image>Adjustments>Brightness/Contrast to create the feel I tried to describe in my original post regarding this image. Depending upon the feel you aimed to get as the photographer, you may or may not like this suggestion over the original photo. GREAT WORK, Lowell. TFS. - Kelly |
