Hi Piotr,
My interpretation of your image, hop you don't mind.
1. Used PS CS2 SHadow/Highlight tool set in 20% on the shadow to bring out foreground and feather detail.
2. Used the lasso tool to outline the eye. Feathered by 4 pixels. Added a curves layer. Changed blend mode of curves layer to screen. This pulled out a little more eye detail
