 Crimson Bottlebrush ( Callistemon ) (16) Shoot_Score
(2364) | When it is stinkin' cöld in Canada I can't help but think back to the glorious weather of Spring in Western Australia. During springtime there, there is a burst of colour! Strange < to Canucks! > flowers show their amazing structures and colours.
In this shot I believe I captured a Callistemon citrinus - the Crimson Bottlebrush ***.
What attracted me to these bushes is the way the flowers "unfold". So I have focussed here on the
closed buds, on the half open ones and finally on the
fully open ones. The spiky leaves at the right are left to help in identification.
These bushes could be seen in and along the Nature Reserve of the Canning River in Ferndale, WA. A map of the occurence of the callistemon is here.
This shot is dedicated to my sister, on whose birthday I took this photo.
PS I found that in many surprising places the Aussies had erected fences made of a cement like material, which I believe contains asbestos. These fences are used to prevent wildfires from running on and on.
People who live right next to a Nature Reserve will actually block out their views, just to feel safe from the FIRE...
