Channel-billed Toucan
Family: Ramphastidae Species: Ramphastos vitellinus Length: 46 cm. This bird is found from Amazônia south to Santa Catarina, west to Goiás and Mato Grosso, and in Pernambuco and Alagoas in the Northeast. It flies in flocks of various sizes, feeding on fruits, insects and spiders, as well as the eggs and young of other birds. It nests in tree cavities, laying two to four eggs at a time. Its Brazilian names are tucano-de-bico-preto, tucano-de-peito-amarelo, tucano-pacova, tucano-pequeno-de-papo-branco and canjo.
