Hi Luciano,
the ugliness disappears with your good macro shot. The eye ! This species is not yet present in my yard, but of course you have warmer weather in the Ticino valley. You provide a good reminder of things to come.
Thanks for your presentation. Thanks also for your comments on my pics from Jordan and Egypt. My best regards, Dietrich

Hi Silvio,
this must be a first on TN. I never heard of a Riodinid butterfly whose larvae specialise on Primula before ... You not only photographed it well but presented it to TN. A special thanks for the detailed description in the note !
My best regards, Dietrich

Hi Ori,
I like the contrast achieved with a flash, it sets the flower nicely apart from the environment. In your "Photo info" it says "Flash did not fire".
Are the granules flower buds or unripe fruits? The wilted leaves suggest the latter.
My best regardes, Dietrich

Hi Ian,

your exotic (for me, a Swiss) pictures from Tasmania on TN are a great joy. I also wish to make you a compliment on the extensive notes. Please continue to publish material on TN.

My best regards, Dietrich

Hi Laurens,
you are seeking perfection! Your long familiarity with the mediterranean fauna shows too. The combination of both is irresitible !
Thanks Laurens for the presentation of many Buprestids on TN and for your instructive workshops.
Chapeau and Greetings to you, Laurens Dietrich

Hi Luciano,
very good, a first time on TN! I admire your way that you identify the Geometridae species. I use the "Guide des papillons nocturnes de France" (R. Robineau et al. 2007) but the pictures are small and I spend hours guessing.
My best regards to you, Luciano.

Dear Laurens,

I like your Oil beetle, you got it in focus from head to tail ! I found a web site for ID of Meloƫ: http://www.coleo-net.de/coleo/texte/meloe.htm. With this list of European species I arrive at Meloƫ proscarabaeus (L.). largely due to the nicked antenna, the black colour and the body proportions.

I did some work in the late 60ties on raising

Hi Luciano,
it is very good and you know it certainly. What if you lower the Colour temperature? Maybe the butterly would even more stand out with its interesting colours. And maybe this is a matter of taste and of the reigning light condition. Just a thought.
I wish you a pleasant weekend ! Dietrich
