lovely image although I dont usually like the rear of animals in an image as it tends to spoil the subject nearly works in this one though
I love the soft tone to the light this is an image i've been trying to capture for years, love it!
lovely photo of a bird which is becoming more common here in the UK too.
nice clean, sharp image with good composition.
another great image
very nice Joey - I've just purchased a 50D to replace my dropped 30D :-( hopefully I will manage to get the hang of its set up and get some images to show off here soon.
very impressive image I love the bird on the stone too, great capture
Brilliant image Baha
Simple but very clever one i could hang on my living room wall well done
very nice Nick
I love the fluffy look to it. Beautiful birds the gold finch probably the most common finch where I live.
This one looks like a female - its nearly impossible to tell but the female usually has a smaller red patch on the male it usually extends behind the birds eye more than on this specimen.
I'd be using a bigger depth of field rather than a f2.8 you could very easily go up to ISO800 with your 40D which would allow you to use perhaps f7.1 or somewhere about that it'll give you much better scope for focusing error and I think you'll get the image you want.
